Golding is very descriptiive in his writing, while Beah is very straight forward and to the point in his writing. So far I think the book is very interesting and I want to keep reading it to see what happens next.
I think Goldings writing is more descriptive than anything, but Beah's writing it touchs your heart and I think that he doesn't sugar coat anything. This book is very heart wrenching because it really gets you think and when you try to put yourself in the main characters shoes its hard because it is sad and scary.
I'm not sure if this is the assignment we were supposed to do... but, as Luke said, Golding is very detail-oriented and describes the setting of almost every scene in the book with a lot of detail. Meanwhile, Beah just tells what is happening with no fillers or anything unnecessary. I think the book is a lot better and easier to read in that aspect. I really liked the first two chapters, too; I think Beah's a guy who seems pretty easy to relate to. Reading the book feels more like you're just talking to a friend than it does like reading a book... good pick.
LOTF makes the reader think more of word choice, and how things can relate to others thing or even people. Beach is clear on what he wants the readers to think and see.
i think Golding does a very good job structuring his sentences to give in depth meanings that go beyond the text. Beah's writing is more about an actual event in history which gives a real-life feel to it when reading.
I think Golding's writing style is more detailed and complicated. I find it easier to read A Long Way Gone because Beah writes in a more straight forward way. Golding's writing makes you think and interpret it. I am enjoying reading a Long Way Gone, and I think it is very interesting! P.s. This is Jamie.
I think golding uses many differnet types of symbolism and goes for a deper meaning. Beah just goes straight to the point and tells us what is happening and how he feels. Beah is very descriptive in the details he gives. I like that he always tells the truth. As sam says, he doesnt sugar coat anything. He wants us tp understand what really happened. This is Kelly
I think Goldings writing is much more descriptive and you can actually picture what is going on. I think Beah gets his point across, but it is not as interesting to read!
Golding is much more descriptive in his writing than Beah. Beah tells it straight up and doesn't bs anyone. I like this book much better than LOTF. Beah is easy to relate to and capture your attention.
I think Golding put much thought into his descriptions and into his symbolism. Beah is more of a straight forward writer. I like this book so far. It keeps me interested and wanting to read more.
I think Golding puts much thought into his descriptions and his symbolism. Beah is more straight forward in his approach and has less symbolism. I like the book so far. It keeps me wanting to read more.
In Lord of the Flies I find that the author is more descriptive on characters and the events happening on the island. However, I find that in A Long Way Gone the author is straight forward and to the point. I am interested in seeing how this story of Ishmael continues.

I really like this book so far and unlike LOFT, a long way gone is a book that is hard to put down. I am curious to see what happens to Ishmael!
